Peohe’s boat dock is under repair
March 27th, 2008 Posted in Coronado NewsThe public dock in front of Peohe’s Restaurant is currently under reconstruction, as evidenced by the huge crane docked right offshore in San Diego Bay.

The dock was built in 1998, and has been steadily eroding over the years because of tidal action. The dock was used by boaters to dine at Peohe’s Restaurant, but it also served as a the free guest dock. Last year, the public was alerted by the Port that the damaged dock structure had become a safety risk to anyone using the facility. It has been closed since then, pending repairs.
In September, the Port of San Diego’s Board of Port Commissioners approved a plan to renovate the dock, awarding the contract to R.E. Staite to remove and rebuild the dock. The $1.1 million project began on Dec. 14, 2007. Components for the new dock began arriving in February. No completion date has been announced yet.
