Memorial Day in Coronado

May 25th, 2008 Posted in Special Events in Coronado

This federal holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. The holiday first began to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War.  After World War I, the holiday was expanded to include those who died in any war or military action.

At 10:00am at Star Park the annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held to honor our fallen heroes.

Additional Memorial Day traditions:

Fly the flag at half-staff from dawn until noon, local time.
Participate in a national “moment of remembrance,” which occurs at 3PM, Washington DC time.
